After several weeks of mockup after mockup, I've finally realized that I need something more to demonstrate how Chord plays. I could draw, frame by frame, exactly how a play session of Chord would look, but that still wouldn't fully describe the game I'm trying to create. I've realized that I need some sort of interactive demonstration: a prototype, if you will. Once I've built this prototype, I'll be able to demonstrate exactly how the game will work.
I've chosen to build the prototype in Flash, for two reasons. First, I'm very familiar with the Flash/Actionscript system from my work at the Center for Autism Research. Second, there are several Actionscript libraries available that will make the process easier, such as Greensock's TweenMax engine. I've been working on the prototype for about a week now, and I'm already further along than I was when I was using OGRE. At the moment, I have the ability to create and place path pieces, which pulses travel along. It's nothing really worth showing just yet, but I hope to be able to demonstrate the music playing mechanic by my Alpha meeting a week from now.
